What is the standard time equivalent of 6:15 military time?

If you have ever seen military or nautical time, you may be familiar with the concept of expressing time as a numerical value. While it may look confusing at first glance, understanding the time conversions is actually pretty simple. One of the common times you may encounter expressed in this numerical format is 6:15 military time.

So what is 6:15 military time? Put simply, 6:15 military time is equivalent to 6:15 AM in normal standard clock time. When expressed in a 24-hour clock, or 'military' as it's often referred to, this would be expressed as 0615 hours. In everyday speech, however it's often just simply referred to as 'six fifteen' by both civilians and military personnel alike.

In the event that you were to come across 8:30 PM expressed in the 24-hour format, this would be written as 2030 hours. By breaking down the two characters preceding and following the colon (i.e., 03 & 30), we can quickly convert this to 3:30 PM in standard clock time. The former part alone (03) reflects 8 hours (or 0800 hours), while the latter part (30) represents half an hour (or 30 minutes).

It should also be noted that when expressing times later than 12PM noon or midnight, they are typically preceded by a + symbol indicating that it lies within one of those respective blocks of hours; i.e., +1830 would represent 6:30 PM in standard form, whereas -0600 would mean 6 AM.
